I should mention I’d taken 2 double dipped strawberry acid tabs, so perhaps my judgement was off. The room smelled so good that the scent stayed on my clothes after I left, which kept the memory with me all day. The room was luxurious and spotless, with beds that looked very expensive. I thought the hotel was fantastic, even a step up from the Savoy in London. Its expensive-looking antique-style baroque furniture was covered in gold leaf, and the carpet was real Axminster, details I can’t say the Savoy can claim. Reception were attentive and didn’t make a fuss or expect idle chit chat, which suited me perfectly. There were lots of small guests sharing the room with us. They were fairly quiet and only came out when we were asleep, so they didn’t really disturb us. A wonderful stay, and if I come again, it won’t be a day too soon. Try it out, you won’t forget this hotel for the rest of your life.

I had to give a star because the site wouldn’t let me post without one. We went for my grandson’s parade and left after 15 minutes. I found the place flea-ridden, with furniture that looked less updated than the Addams Family’s. It seemed like a dropout’s paradise, and an unsavoury character followed us in. The owner was asleep when we left and, as he was drunk, didn’t even see us. Please don’t go. booking dot com will allow this to happen.

The Windsor is a bit tired and dated, but the couple who own it are lovely. The 23 of us who checked in were made to feel very welcome, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The front rooms were very hot, though that seemed more due to the weather than the rooms themselves. Thank you for your hospitality.

The walls were crumbling, damp-stained, and dirty, and there were coffee stains on the drapes. The furniture was old, ripped, stained, and dirty, with a ripped carpet too. What a horrible, nasty, filthy pig pen of a place. The owner doesn’t care. It deserves minus 10 stars. Do NOT go there!!!

It’s relatively cheap for the area and handy for Dover, so it works as an overnight stop before an early ferry. Beyond that, there’s not much to recommend: it’s dilapidated, grubby, and tired.
