A spotless self catering stay with comfortable beds and far more facilities than I expected. The location at the bottom of Loch Ness is fantastic, with amazing views and surroundings. Highly recommend.

I was here for a friend’s wedding. The former Fort and Abbey is a historic building, with excellent accommodation and a restaurant nearby at the south end of Loch Ness.

The Chapel spa is an experience in its own right, and the Scottish décor feels premium while the apartment is comfortable throughout. It’s in a listed abbey, in former classrooms, and you enter through the old school’s bell tower. The place has a welcoming family home feel and stretches across three levels, with a home cinema, kitchen, two bathrooms and four beds, two doubles and two singles. The setting is right on Loch Ness, with all its legends. Booking.com gives it a fantastic 9.3 from 94 results, and the abbey feels worthy of the Harry Potter universe.

What a lovely atmosphere, with friendly staff and a great holiday apartment. The setting is fantastic, and there’s a sauna, steam bath, swimming pool and club room with a snooker table. It should have been an easy five star review, but we had no heating for the first two nights, even though it was -2° outside. The heating was repaired, but for the following two nights we heard what sounded like air in the heating pipe in one bedroom for much of the night. Maybe next time.
