The Old Ferry Inn

We weren't staying nearby, but popped in for dinner. The cosy little pub we remembered from 10 years ago is still there, now with a stunning outdoor dining area as well as a lovely indoor space. The food was excellent, portions were big, and service and views were great. Prices were better than across the water in Fowey, probably a welcome thing for people who'd walked there. No room review since we didn't stay, but maybe next time...

A couple of years ago, I was delivering a caravan to a friend at a nearby campsite. He gave me the wrong directions, and I ended up towing it to Bodinnick harbour. Not an experience I'd want to repeat! Somehow I turned the van around in the very tight harbour, with a round of cheers from people outside the pub. I went back to the Old Ferry inn later that afternoon and had the best pint of mild ale I've had in years. After a stressful afternoon, the view, beer and company were exactly what I needed. I hope to return this summer without a car or caravan. If you're visiting the pub, don't try towing a caravan in.

We love this place and will definitely come back. This was our second stay, and both times we had beautifully appointed rooms and even better views. All the staff gave us a friendly welcome and looked after us well. Breakfasts were great, and the bar had a lovely evening atmosphere, with a great selection of beers and gins distilled on the premises. Thank you.

The meal was worth the trip: we had chicken schnitzel, mackerel pâté and fish and chips, and all three were tasty. You order at the counter, and the menu is limited, but the view is hard to beat. Getting there takes a bit of effort, with a windy, narrow road and a pay-and-display car park on the right, followed by a walk down the road or steps from the holiday rentals. It isn't accessible for disabled guests. You can drop people at the pub, and a lane leads to a small turning point. A good stop if you're up for the adventure.
