Amal made our few days in idyllic Fowey such a pleasure. She looked after us brilliantly, with tips on what to see and when, and even help arranging parking on the town’s narrow streets. The breakfast was astonishingly beautiful and delicious, and the coffee deserves a mention too. Our generously sized room was spotless and very neat, though the bathtub took up about a quarter of it and there was only a shower. The toilet was very cramped, to put it kindly. Still, nothing that would put off a seasoned traveller. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Upton and highly recommend it. Give Amal a hug from us.

The only real drawback was the separate little WC: my 6'2' husband couldn't shut its door with his knees in the way, so taller or larger guests might prefer another room. There’s no parking at Upton House itself, but there’s nearby parking and a central car park, which makes sense with Fowey’s narrow, winding streets. That wouldn't stop us returning. We stayed three nights, were warmly looked after, and found the charming room comfortable and perfectly clean. Breakfast was a scrumptious French-style spread of muesli, fresh berries, yoghurt, croissants, ham and cheese. We hope to stay at Upton House again when we're next in Fowey.
