The Bowens B&B

The room was good and the B&B was clean, but the owner's manner made us feel so uncomfortable that we skipped breakfast the following day. The menu could have said more clearly how many items we could choose, and the owner could have explained the limits more politely or offered extras for an additional cost. On the first morning, the wording for the English breakfast said, “Any combination of the following,” so my husband chose what he wanted. When we ordered, the owner replied, “we shall see you have to eat everything,” which felt unwelcome and set an awkward tone for our stay. The next day my husband asked for one extra sausage and one extra bacon, alongside one of each. The owner looked very angry, called it “awful lot,” referring to my husband's choices the day before, and refused. The accommodation itself was fine, but we didn't have a nice experience.

We keep coming back to Bowens B&b, and this was our third stay. Kevin and Claire are such good hosts, and the place is spotlessly clean with a fabulous breakfast. Karl and Clive recommend it as a little bit of Paradise for a comfortable, relaxing break.

The breakfast was great, and sitting on the terrace with those lovely garden and countryside views made the morning even better. We felt welcome the whole time and plan to return. Bowens is also perfectly placed for lots of walks in nature. Our room was very clean and a good size.

The chalets outside were cosy and comfortable, with plenty of thoughtful little touches. Breakfast was delicious, especially the hash browns and mushrooms, and the hosts were so helpful that nothing seemed like too much trouble. It's a hidden gem in a lovely setting, well placed for getting around the local area. You can count on a warm welcome.
