The rooms are a good size, and there’s plenty of free parking. We found the long walk to ours the main drawback: it meant going along two lengthy corridors and back, and neither corridor had ventilation. The hotel sits in a retail park just off the A30, with a Shell station, McDonald's, Next, Boots, TK Max and M&S nearby. There’s also a pub and restaurant next door serving breakfast, though booking a table is best. Newquay is a short drive away. No air conditioning, but there’s a modern fan. A handy place for a Cornwall break.

The room was in a dreadful state: damp and mould above the windows, sticky stuff on the floor, a bathroom floor that looked unmopped, lights hanging from the ceiling, and heating that didn’t work. We arrived late after a long journey with a tired young child who just needed to sleep. I did try to find reception later, but nobody was there. We eventually learned the man meant to be on duty had gone outside to smoke. At checkout the next day, the woman at the desk was very apologetic. She gave us contact details for guest relations and refunded the second night, but nobody offered to move us or sort out the room. Guest relations later gave us just £29 back for the first night after I sent photos. They said I should have contacted reception that evening, even though I’d explained the long trip, our exhausted child, and that no one was at the desk. I don’t see how we could have done that. We also couldn’t get a booking at the pub next door, although hotel guests were meant to have priority. We had to pay more for somewhere else at short notice, and I’m glad we did. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I feel sorry for the staff.

After a day at work, it was especially nice to be greeted by Millie at reception. She was lovely, all smiles, and I hope her good work gets recognised. I’ve stayed here several times and it’s always a pleasure. There’s loads of space in the car park for the truck I drive, and everything I could need is close by, from fuel to food. The rooms are always clean.

£72 for the night felt steep considering the room was horribly damp and mouldy. PI management wouldn’t accept responsibility and didn’t seem to understand how impractical it was to switch rooms at 1am with two young children. We couldn’t get through on the phone, no matter when we called or how long we waited.

The pub and restaurant attached to the hotel was a nice surprise: cozy, good service and a decent choice of classic pub food. We really enjoyed dinner there. The hotel staff were welcoming, and check-in was easy. Our clean, spacious room was comfortable, though there could be some road noise in rooms facing the A30. It didn’t bother us much, but light sleepers might prefer a room away from the road. We had a pleasant stay here, just off the A30 near Newquay. It’s in a modern business park about a 20-minute drive from the town centre, so the spot is peaceful and handy for the coast or main road. McDonald's, an M&S Foodhall and other shops are within walking distance for a quick meal or essentials. There’s plenty of free parking, but register your number plate at reception to avoid a charge. A convenient, comfortable base near Newquay, and I’d happily come back.
