The best part of The Stroud House is Sarah herself. She made us feel like family, and my daughter said at least ten times on the bus to Sandown that she was sad to leave and already missed her. Kids don’t lie. We loved Sarah, her hospitality and the cottage’s British charm. Breakfast was extraordinary, with homemade jams and compotes and a full English cooked to order. She even made my 10-year-old her favourite pancakes. The house has a cosy English cottage feel, a comfortable bed and a lovely bathtub, and it’s immaculately clean and full of charm. The location works well without a car: the beach is walkable, and a bus stop around the corner connects to Compton Bay, the Needles and Sandown on the Island Coaster. We’ll be back.

Sarah is a warm and welcoming hostess, and the house has a traditional feel, a lovely garden and spacious parking. It’s well located near Freshwater beach, Yarmouth and Alum bay, and breakfast is really nice too. Worth a visit. If you have an EV, DC/AC charging stations are a two minute drive away.

Sarah is an attentive but unassuming host, and Stroud House is gorgeous and homely. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast is the standout, especially the mushroom side dish. It’s a great fit for couples, families with children of any age, or small groups of friends. Most things are walkable, buses go to Yarmouth and the local taxis are efficient. In good weather, Freshwater bay has a gorgeous beach. The Isle of Wight is a fantastic place, and staying here made our weekend especially lovely.

Sarah made our stay so easy, nothing was too much trouble. Stroud House was our favourite place on our Island tour, and we wished we’d booked longer. It feels like a real home, full of character, lovingly decorated, a bit quirky and welcoming, a lovely change from clinical B&Bs and corporate hotels. The breakfasts are delicious, so don’t expect to lose weight. It’s a perfect base for exploring, whether you’re on foot, by bike or in a car. Bravo, Stroud House. We look forward to coming back! The house is beautiful and the garden is sublime. Sarah is a super duper host, friendly, kind and authentic, and we felt comfortable everywhere. Her homemade breakfast cereals were crunchtastic.
