Bistro Lotte

We had a lovely family reunion lunch at this charming little cafe. The galettes and crepes were beautiful, and the “tarte du jour” with raclette was to die for. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to answer our questions about the food and drinks. We didn't stay at the hotel, though I would in the future. Thank you!

The food was lovely as always, and we've often visited because we love the French cuisine and the high standard it's usually prepared to. But this lunch stop with my husband was disappointing. It was a quiet weekday lunchtime, with two serving staff, and still nobody brought us a menu, even though we sat by the counter. Staff came outside but didn't approach our table. Eventually one asked what we were doing there, as if she couldn't understand why we'd sat down. When I asked for a food menu, she said she'd bring one, but the tone was rude, like we were an inconvenience and had done something wrong. I usually tip even when service is slow, but didn't this time. Unfriendly service doesn't deserve a tip. We were disappointed, as we love the food and have been here often, but the lack of customer care means we won't stop again when passing through Frome. We don't expect over-the-top friendliness, just not to be made to feel unwelcome. It's a shame that such poor attitude toward customers could cost the cafe repeat visits.

The steak frites was a generous portion and nicely seasoned. We came as six for our wedding meal and had a brilliant time. The service was great, and the food was delicious. We’ll be back.

We both left disappointed after coming here for my birthday. The food arrived cold, the portions felt mean, and everything tasted very bland. We also found the staff snobbish and unwelcoming, as if they only wanted a certain sort of customer. We won't return.
