The room was so comfortable that my wife wished we’d booked more than one night. The huge, soft double bed was lovely to sink into, and the linen smelled great. Everything was tidy and well presented, though the lights flickered regularly in the bathroom, main room and bedside lamps, even when only one was on. Breakfast things were laid out in the lounge, including fruit, cereal, croissants, tea, coffee and a machine for lattes and cappuccinos. There was butter and jam in the fridge, which made me think toast used to be available, but with staff handling breakfast I couldn’t find a toaster. A minor thing, really. We came for an anniversary and a quiet break from city life, and the pub downstairs had a few people enjoying food and drinks in the evening. I had the madras special, while my wife had plant based katsu chicken with rice. Both were really good and felt homely, clearly made from scratch rather than like warmed up high street pub food. Drinks seemed a bit pricey, but the staff were so welcoming and attentive, checking we were happy with our meal, that it felt like we were partly paying for the service. We’d love to return for another peaceful stay.

We booked Christmas Lunch back in October, and on arrival today we were greeted with a welcome drink. The atmosphere and decor were wonderful, and the staff were fantastic. The food was amazing, with generous portions and faultless presentation. Everyone had clearly put a lot of effort into making it a great experience. Hospitality is a hard business, but this establishment has it down to a tee. I’d highly recommend it and hope their success continues.

The breakfast the next morning was the best we’ve ever had, with lots of fresh fruit, plenty of choices and gluten-free options. Even the coffee was organic and from a local company. We only stayed one night, but loved every part of the visit and would be glad to come back when we’re in the area. On arrival, someone helped carry our cases upstairs. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, with a huge mirror that made it feel bright. We were welcomed at the bar too, where the locals were in good humour and there was lots of happy conversation. We enjoyed our evening meal, and the serving staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Thanks to everyone who runs this lovely pub and B&B.

A nice pub in a quiet little village, with clean, comfortable rooms and a peaceful night's sleep. The evening meal was lovely and there was a good choice of drinks. The car park is large, and we felt safe there. Breakfast is available for an extra £6.95 per person, but it's continental only. We didn't have it because we needed to work.
