Gairloch Sands Youth Hostel

This was my first time at this YHS site. It’s a Victorian house right on the water between Gairloch and Big Sands Beach, and the location is incredible. Staff were very friendly, and they sell some food and drinks. I had breakfast, which was more than enough. The bunk room was clean and tidy. It sleeps eight men, but the shower and toilet next door are mixed sex, with two stalls, two sinks, and one shower. I think the women’s bunk room is served by another shower and toilet at the other end of the building, but it’s worth being aware of. It wouldn’t put me off coming back. Did I mention how amazing the location is?

A friendly hostel, spotless, with great facilities and an incredible location. I’d like to see if there’s anywhere in the world with better views! Book now, go now, it’s great.

The lounge had a beautiful view, and we had some good conversations with other travellers. We really enjoyed staying here. It felt cozy.

Even though heavy wind and rain kept us from going to the beach, we still had a lovely stay. The location right on the beach is perfect and the view is breathtaking. The rooms and lobby are cozy, the staff are super nice and always happy to chat, and everyone else was friendly too. The kitchen is very well equipped and made us eager to cook a nice meal. Both the rooms and the sanitary area were impeccably clean, and the beds were comfortable. I have no words for how beautiful this place is. I’ll gladly return when I visit Scotland again!
