Rivers Hotel

Keerthana at reception gave us a warm welcome and was friendly, professional and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms at Rivers Hotel were clean, comfortable and conveniently located. We had a great visit and received excellent service. Highly recommended!

The location is great, the view is beautiful, and the staff were friendly. The terrace is a lovely spot for a drink, with a beautiful view, and the food was okay. For a night’s stay the room was comfortable and clean, but there were a few issues. The bed was comfy, but noise from other rooms, including loud music and people, made it hard to sleep. The room was too warm, and opening the window didn’t help. Air conditioning or a ceiling or standing fan would be great. The bathroom door was hard to close and needed a bang to shut properly. The taps had fast hot water and slow cold water, maybe a pressure issue. A mirror above the desk would help, the ironing board needs updating, and we needed more tea bags. The TV wasn’t working.

Dinner was excellent, generous portions and really good value, and the hotel is in a lovely spot beside the river. Our room was warm and comfortable, with tea and coffee provided. The letdown was breakfast: there was no coffee, the toaster wasn’t working, the eggs were raw, and the choices were just cereal and biscuits. Breakfast being included was one of the main reasons we booked, so that was a shame. I think the hotel had only been open about five months. I hope they can improve things. We’d come back. The room was clean enough, the beds were comfortable, and it did what we needed without being fancy. Rivers Hotel was among the cheapest places around, but the view over the River Tyne was a lovely surprise. It’s around a 25-minute walk to Newcastle centre, and the hotel is very child-friendly. There are plenty of food places that deliver there too. Good value for the price, and I’d stay again.
