Even with the site full for half term, it felt peaceful because there’s so much room. Booking was easy, and the owners were friendly and helpful. We stayed three nights at Combas Farm with my husband and dog, up in the high fields, where the views were outstanding. We could see Woolacombe one way and Croyde and Lundy the other. The pitches are spacious, with lots of room around the site, and we had incredible weather. We walked to dog friendly Putsborough beach a couple of times and went into Croyde village each day. The facilities are excellent, including the showers and toilet block. The rainfall shower in the first block is the best I’ve used at a campsite or hotel. We also used the charging points and the fridges and freezers. The toilets near the high fields are compost toilets, and the walk to the main block is long and steep. That didn’t put us off: the compost toilets are very well maintained and didn’t smell even in 30 degree heat. I much prefer them to chemical toilets, which I really dislike.

Sally and the team were lovely, and have made Combas Farm feel like a truly special place. We loved staying here and will definitely be back. From the top field, the views are spectacular. The facilities are great, with thoughtful extras like fresh milk and eco washing products, and the showers were immaculate. There was even sourdough bread delivered on Saturday. We enjoyed the 15 minute stroll to putsborough beach and croyde village, and spotted Highland cows and sheep on our walks.

The weekend was such a joy, even with strong winds and rain to deal with. We walked from the site to Puttsborough Beach, played games and made memories together. The highland cows and fresh milk vending machine were lovely to see, and we pre ordered sourdough and cinnamon buns from local Crocodile Bakery. They delivered to the site on Saturday morning, and they were delicious. I’m not much of a camper, but I’d happily return to Combas. Sally and the team have thought of so much: beautiful camping fields, great showers and toilets, a wet kit room, fridges, a freezer, and indoor and outdoor washing up stations. The communal kettle also made that first morning cuppa quick and easy, and the Yorkshire tea bags were a bonus.

We were close to Croyde and three beaches, and the campsite facilities were so good. They had fridges, freezers and microwaves, plus fresh milk on site and baked pastries delivered right to your tent. So nice!

On our last night, two drunk, uncouth yobs arrived close to midnight and showed no respect for the other campers. They were asked politely but firmly to leave, to everyone else’s relief. Aside from that, sitting and watching Sally’s Highland Cattle while buzzards and the occasional owl flew overhead was idyllic. We didn’t spot the fox this year. This was our third stay at Wonderful Combas Farm, and we can’t wait to come back next year. Sally and Steve are among the kindest, most genuine people we’ve met, and their care over the details makes it a wonderful campsite. The shower blocks are spotless and cleaned regularly. There are plenty of fridges, freezers, kettles, a microwave and charging points, which made our stay comfortable. Many campers are regulars and book ahead for the next year. There are young campers as well as regulars, and they add to the lovely spirit of the place while getting valuable experience being independent and making great memories. Thanks for everything, Sally and Steve 🙏
