At Home B&B is close to tube stations in lovely Chiswick, which is a nice bonus. Bob completely refurbished the place in 2010-2011, and that work shows. He’s an artist, and staying there gives you a chance to share his world. The experience feels refreshing compared with the usual standardized, boring hotel service. I travel a lot for business and have stayed everywhere from 5 stars to B&Bs. I’m in London several times a year and am always happy to stay at Bob's. Just don’t expect a 5 star hotel. It’s a B&B, so you share the bathroom with other guests.

It’s cheap, but you have to put up with a lot. This place is run like a hostel, not a B&B, and there’s no service, though it is the cheapest accommodation in London. You make your own breakfast and can do as you like. Food was always available, but with everyone having their own idea of hygiene, you just have to live with that. There were no towels in the kitchen, or only used dirty ones. The ground floor toilet had no towel or soap. My room had only two hangers and no hooks or towel holder. Toilet paper was left loose beside the bathtub, so it could get soggy while people showered. The TV was inside the wardrobe with a DVBT antenna that I had to pull out for a better signal. I put a cardboard box at the bottom of the wardrobe to raise it for a more comfortable night watching TV. With no hooks and the TV taking up space in the wardrobe, there was nowhere convenient for clothes or towels. I had an unpleasant conversation with the owner. At 11 pm there was no hot water for a shower. He said it turned off at a certain time, though there had been hot water the days before and after. Then he accused me of changing something with the hot water. He said I should be lucky to pay the low price of £45 per night, and if I was unhappy about any inconvenience, I could leave and find somewhere better, which of course would cost more. In my opinion that’s no way to treat customers. He wants guests, so he should try to make them happy even in a low-priced room. One late evening, I was drinking tea in the kitchen when the phone rang. The owner rushed over, and I said “Good evening,” but he didn’t reply. He went out without saying anything, came back a few seconds later and still said nothing, then left again. Even when answering the phone, he was quite rude. Funny guy?? 🙄

Bob's an artist, and you can see that throughout the B&B. It has a really nice vibe. We had good beds and a terrific breakfast, and there are two showers. I’d recommend the one downstairs. Our band "Puur" played in London, and we spent one night at Bob's B&B. We had some spare time when we left, so we asked to leave our luggage, and that wasn’t a problem. I’d stay with Bob again on my next visit to london.

I arrived to find the place still being renovated. There was wet paint on the wall that ruined my jacket, the toilet was still being repaired by a contractor, and dust was everywhere. I couldn’t stay because of how dusty it was and had to find somewhere else. The owner should wait until the renovation is finished before renting rooms.

I haven’t stayed here, but I called a few minutes ago to ask about the price. The receptionist took 3 minuet to tell me the nightly rate, and I didn’t like his attitude. When I said okay, thanks, goodbye, he just hung up. Is that normal in London? I’ve lived in Glasgow for 4 years and haven’t experienced that kind of rudeness. Sorry if I sound a bit too judgey :)
