Holiday Inn Express London Hammersmith

The hotel is in a lively spot with plenty of shops and nightlife. I do wish the Plough & Harrow next door were still open. Train noise can be heard in rooms at the back, and reception staff also run the bar, so service there can be delayed when they're busy checking people in. Otherwise, it's pretty standard for an HIX. The rooms and shared areas were clean and well kept, the staff were friendly and very good, and breakfast had plenty of expected buffet options.

We found this a good mix of price and location for our group on a 7 night London trip. The Hammersmith underground station nearby made it easy to get everywhere we needed, and essential shops were within a 10 min walk. The hotel and rooms were clean, WiFi worked well, and staff were helpful and responsive. Rooms were a decent size with reasonable soundproofing. Beds were comfortable enough, though not amazing. Breakfast wasn't a highlight, but the basics gave us a fair start to the day. The hotel is beside the train tracks, and you can hear them depending on where your room is, though it didn't bother me.

It's handy for Heathrow, and there are four tube lines nearby with quick access to London's major attractions. I've stayed here quite a few times and it hasn't let me down. Staff are friendly and welcoming, with someone around if you need help. Rooms are clean, spacious and well maintained, and the clean, comfortable beds make for a good night's sleep. Luggage space can be tight in some rooms, especially with a big suitcase. There's a nice dining and communal area by reception, and the WiFi is pretty good.

The location was good, and staff were helpful and available throughout my 10-night stay. The service around the heating was still a major problem. On arrival, I was told to look for another hotel if I wanted because the room heating wasn't working. We'd booked months ahead, and as international travelers we have to plan far in advance, so being told to find somewhere else on arrival was deeply concerning. Staff did help check the room, and the heater was working then. After 3 nights it stopped again, and it still wasn't fixed after I complained. The hotel's top management really needs to look closely at how the place is being run.
