Argyll Hotel

We were in town for a gig at the hydro, just a 15-minute walk from this lovely little family-run hotel. After coming straight from work in Newcastle, we got in at 11.30pm and check-in was smooth. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful, and late arrival wasn’t a problem. Our small double was cosy, clean and nicely furnished. The radiators were on during a freezing night, and we slept well in the very comfy bed. The bathroom was clean too, and the shower was so powerful I nearly blasted the shower head off when I turned it on. Breakfast had a great spread: hot buffet, cold bits, three juices, hot drinks, fruit and toast. Staff were helpful and pleasant again. We’d definitely stay again, 10/10. One suggestion: there was no do not disturb sign in the room, and housekeeping knocked at 9am while we were just waking up and in the shower.

The staff were nice and breakfast was good. There’s a great museum nearby and it’s free, plus plenty of good Indian restaurants around. The hotel is away from the centre, and bus service drops off after 6pm, so you can take a cab. The airport bus doesn’t stop near the hotel either. It was hot in August and there were no fans.

We found the Argyle hotel on booking.com when arranging an overnight in Glasgow to see a Comedian. It’s very close to Armadillo, with lots of nearby food options and pubs. The hotel was lovely, and so were the staff. We really enjoyed breakfast and would definitely recommend it.

The food was outstanding, fresh and delicious, and presented with care. Our room was spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully prepared, so we could relax straight away. From arrival, the staff made us feel welcome with warm, attentive service, and they handled everything professionally from check-in to check-out. We had a wonderful stay last night. The hotel exceeded our expectations, and we’d happily return and recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, memorable stay.
