Bothwell Bridge Hotel

This family-run hotel has a relaxed, welcoming feel, with warm and accommodating staff and hearty, proper food. The rooms are standard and very clean. Don't expect them to be modern, though I think that goes with the price. It's also a beautiful wedding venue. I got married here in 2013, and since then it's been updated with a lovely LED dance floor and twinkling ceiling lights. Quite stunning. Highly recommend!

The function room is gorgeous and would be perfect for a wedding reception. The outside area is lovely for photos, and all the facilities were clean and well maintained, including the accessible and baby changing facilities. Bar staff were friendly and helpful. Since I'm breastfeeding, they made me a decaf coffee when I asked, and I could get a glass of milk in the main bar when I was feeling run down. The man who runs the function hall was friendly and helpful, though he did hog the microphone a bit. The mic wasn't great for hearing the speeches, and the music after the band sounded distorted. I'd recommend sound checks or a new system. The food was beyond great for me, though some other people said their chicken main course was dry.

I hadn't been here in many a moon and hadn't stayed, but I popped in for lunch after seeing the new look and was pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely. I spent ages chatting and catching up with the staff and patrons. Everyone working there was great and friendly, and a very handsome young chap with a beard looked after us really well. I'll be back.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We had a great weekend. Our room was clean and spacious, though a bit gloomy with dated furniture and in need of an update. Since it was on the ground floor, we couldn't leave the window open as it didn't seem secure.
