For an overnight stay, this budget hotel worked well. It was warm and clean, with a comfortable bed and the usual room basics: tea and coffee, a TV, and a hairdryer. The shower had several spray settings and took a bit of figuring out, but was worth it. Breakfast was good, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our ground-floor room was at the back, facing an outdoor area shared by several buildings and used for smoking.

Cheap and cheerful. My basic room was possibly the smallest I've stayed in, though maybe there are larger ones. I haven't tried the breakfast yet. The room was clean, and I had no problems with the staff. The receptionist was helpful and even came down to sort out the TV.

I've recently stayed in other three-star hotels in Glasgow, and this one felt noticeably worse by comparison, so I wouldn't recommend it. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom presentable, which made it fine in those respects. My room happened to be near the bottle bins for a club a few buildings away, and I was woken several times each night. Drunk students making noise in the car park on and off all night didn't help. Credit to the guy in the next room who let them know he wasn't happy.

I was happy with my stay at the Newton hotel. My single room had plenty of space, and breakfast was cooked to order and included. There was no air conditioning, so I might not have been so pleased if the weather had been warm, but it was fine for this trip.

The red decor is everywhere, carpets, curtains, bedcovers. I like red, but it still felt a bit much. After a long day I like to chill out with the telly, but here it was about nine feet in front of me and six feet to the right instead of facing the bed. The fancy shower had loads of nozzles, but didn't work properly. The regular shower head was fine, though, and the place seemed clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. Being right in the centre of Glasgow made it noisy, but also really convenient. Charing Cross station is close, so transport links are good. Parking is limited. Apparently there's a bookable car park, though it isn't mentioned, so I'd suggest asking the hotel to reserve a spot when booking. Not bad, and I'd consider staying overnight again.
