For £1050 a week, I felt we were overpaying for how lodge number 1 was presented. The advertised children's play park was taped off, and there was some mould in the bathroom and dirt around the taps. The grill looked filthy, as if it hadn't been checked before we arrived, though a staff member came to clean it and apologised. We were in the three-bedroom lodge with a hot tub, but one of its jets didn't work. I reported it on the first day and heard nothing more for the rest of our stay. The electrics tripped twice a day, apparently when the fire and oven were both on, and you have to go outside to switch them back on. The maintenance man said that's just how lodges are, but we've stayed in more remote ones without this issue. One day, water leaked through the ceiling onto the sofa. They came out fairly quickly and made a temporary repair, but it's tiring to deal with problems when you're away to relax. The showers were poor too, especially the one into the master bedroom, which sprayed water everywhere and needs fixing or a new shower head. Water pressure wasn't great, though I can understand that in a remote place. We could have had a much better stay. We've stayed at Braidhaugh, a Largo Leisure site, and thought it was much better run. I can't justify returning to Campsie Glen, and probably won't book with Largo Leisure again.

The only thing that made the holiday rough was the neighbours at pitch 39. Their two dogs yapped and barked all day and night, and the owners would leave them to go to the bar in the evening without seeming to care. Apart from that, it was an excellent site. The owners have put a lot of thought and money back into it.

Great for families, with a good bar, bistro, playground, and swimming pool. We had a fully serviced pitch that was a good size.

There's a nice river at the bottom of the site, and the pitches are clean, level hardstands. It's dog friendly, and there's a small pool on site, about four feet deep. Swimming costs an extra £3 per person for 45 minutes. It's still a lovely site, but I was disappointed to learn on the day we arrived that the bar and restaurant close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. One of those was during our stay, and their being open was part of why we chose this place.

The caravan was lovely, clean, and had everything we needed. I really liked the little pack of kitchen essentials. The hot tub was a big hit with my 14-year-old, and a relaxing spot after a day out, even in the rain. Staff checked it and made sure it was working properly. The surroundings are beautiful and really quiet, making this one of the best caravan parks we've stayed at. Staff were fantastic from the start. We got a courtesy call the day before to talk through our stay and arrival time, which my husband really appreciated. On Monday, we ate at the onsite restaurant, where the staff were great and the food was delicious. I wish it had been open for the rest of our stay, as we'd have gone every evening instead of eating off site. I'd recommend the park. It has a range of places to stay, including camping and camping huts, plus an indoor pool and kids' play area.
