The mattress was thin and hard, and the rooms felt basic. Still, it was quiet and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location worked well for the west end, the botanic gardens and plenty of interesting places. For what it cost, I thought it was good value and would consider staying again.

The staff really made us feel welcome, and we had a lovely one-night stay. Our room had high ceilings and big windows, plus a huge bed that was pretty comfortable. It was spacious, clean and felt luxurious, with a full en suite and a massive bath. The central location is close to the gardens, though Friday night got noisy enough that we had to get our earplugs. Apart from that, a great stay. I’d go back and recommend it.

The staff were the best part of my stay, especially Catherine, who was really obliging. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean, and seemed to have had some light renovation. There was a little damp and some carpet burns, but the bed was comfortable, the shower worked and the door locked, most of the time. The location is handy, about five minutes from the Subway, with cafes, shops and restaurants on Byres Road and GWR. The Botanics and University are right nearby too. There’s some traffic noise from Great Western Road, but closing the window kept it from disturbing my sleep. Being above the entrance meant I sometimes got the smell of smoke from people below. Breakfast during Covid was a small bag with fruit, cereal, a pastry and yoghurt. That was more than I expected and perfectly fine. After a week in the worst AirBnB in the WestEnd, I was glad to find somewhere that didn’t make me want to spray a whole bottle of fabreeze when I came in. I’d probably stay here again.

The room was small, but clean, and the shower was hot and clean too. We had a double room, and the beds were very soft, which wasn’t to our taste, though that comes down to preference. The hotel was lovely and warm, so we switched the radiator off. There’s a nice pub five minutes away and plenty of restaurants and takeaways within a 5-10 minute walk. The underground is a short stroll away. Our room faced the front, but traffic noise wasn’t a problem for us, though it could bother some people. Staff were friendly, and the night porter quickly let us in through the buzzer-secured front door in the evening. We’ll stay again.
