I’m giving one star only because there’s no option for zero. I paid £400 for another hotel rather than stay in this hell hole. The rooms were disgusting, the location was rough, and the staff were absolutely disrespectful. When I arrived, they asked me for my passport number, registration number, address, and telephone number. My room had stains on the bed, hairs in the cups, a broken kettle, carpet that didn’t even reach the walls, and mold everywhere. Work had booked it for three nights, but I immediately arranged to stay elsewhere. Two days later I got a call asking why I wasn’t staying there, why my bags weren’t in the room, and whether I’d be staying that night. I was in an important meeting and had to step out to take it. I drove back to complain and explain that it was my room for three days, and what I did during that time was my business. I asked for my check-in document back because I wasn’t confident they would stay GDPR compliant. I’d never given a hotel my passport and phone numbers before. Staff then spent 20 minutes discussing their policy with me while showing me other guests’ check-in documents. That was an immediate GDPR breach and proved my point. The couple talking to each other in their native language ignored me and my questions. After the woman flatly refused to return the original, I left with a scanned copy.
