The doors slam, and Saturday night was quite a racket, with them banging non-stop in what feels like student accommodation. The mattress was awful and the double bed was tiny, maybe 120 cm wide. There was no room cleaning, so over the week we ran out of toilet paper. The carpet was stained too. I wouldn't call this a hotel, more of a hostel at most.

The location is handy, about an 8-minute walk from Glasgow City Centre, and the shared spaces are nice: study areas, a movie room, a well-equipped gym, and decent dorm rooms with ensuites. But the stay was one of my most disappointing in more than 10 years of travelling. The room hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest. There were crumbs and dirt on the desk and floor, the sheets hadn't been changed, and the bed had blood on the pillowcase, food and saliva on the mattress, plus hair and dead skin throughout. I told a staff member straight after check-in. He said he'd look into it, but didn't. The next day another staff member said they were waiting for fresh linen and would send some up. They didn't. When I came down again after being told it had arrived, they said they'd run out and offered no help, just fobbed me off. Four others in my group had the same problem. I'm now having to pay to wash my own sheets. The staff were friendly enough, but seemed to care only about handing over a key. We waited about 30 minutes on arrival for someone to come down with them, and got no explanation of the facilities or after-hours access, which we had to work out ourselves. The building also houses long-term university accommodation, which seemed well run by a permanent front desk. The Hashtag Hotel rooms are handled by a couple of blokes at a pop-up desk in the foyer, with keys and paperwork kept in a cardboard box. If you want to sleep in other people's pubic hair and blood, stay at the Hashtag. Otherwise, do yourself a favour and choose one of the less flashy but cleaner student accommodation blocks or AirBnB's nearby. #screwthecustomer

It's an okay place for maybe one night between trips. Since it's mostly student accommodation for the year, you get the basics, a bed and shower. There's no way to make a hot drink in the room, though reception has hot water and a choice of tea or coffee. The gym is a plus, where you can train and be happy 😋.
