Holiday Inn Express Strathclyde Park M74 JCT 5 by IHG

The staff were friendly, which makes it hard to leave a poor review, but the noisy crowd made this stay a bad one. Rowdy guests kept banging the fire doors, so I hardly slept. The travel bus crew were the main cause. It wasn't worth stopping here, and I'll look elsewhere among the IHG hotels. This one's off my list.

Breakfast was tasty and the coffee was good, which helped after a very broken night with little sleep. The room itself was tiny. With the fold-out bed open, you literally couldn't get from one side to the other without climbing over it. We're both petite, about 5' 3", and usually don't need much room, but this was impossible to move around in. The regular beds weren't comfortable for us either. When I lay down, the mattress sank so much that my torso was lower than my feet. The pull-out bed was worse, with a mattress only about 4cm thick over a hard base full of springs. My son didn't want to sleep on it and chose the floor, so I joined him.

The staff were the best part for us. Everyone was so nice and helpful, and couldn't have done more. The lad with the medal for 23 years was especially helpful, a lovely lad. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, too. It's a great hotel all round, and we'll definitely be back. We loved our stay, five stars, thanks.

After a long journey, my parents and I arrived late at night for a stay booked through a travel agency. Our triple room had a sofa bed for me, but it was broken and sloped so badly that I couldn't sleep on it. Staff initially tried to help and agreed it shouldn't be like that. They said they knew there was an issue with a sofa bed in one of the rooms, but then told me no rooms were available when I asked for another bed or room for the night. The manager was extremely rude and wouldn't help unless I paid for a second room, even though the broken bed wasn't my fault. After hours of frustration, my tour guide stepped in, and suddenly a triple room had become available because of a "last minute cancellation." I appreciate the staff who first tried to assist, but the manager's treatment was unacceptable. I was exhausted and have never been spoken to so rudely. The problem was only sorted after I escalated it. The hotel should check rooms properly and train management to be more understanding. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
