For the price, I'd either go really cheap and stay in a hostel, or spend a bit more on yotel or somewhere similar. Point a doesn't have a gym, and I liked starting the day with a short workout at yotel, where there's a basic room with weights, a treadmill and a few other machines. You also don't really have anywhere to put your clothes, or a kettle for tea and coffee. I don't mind that, but it could matter to some people. The room had greasy marks on the metal chair and sweat built up on the remote. The TV picture was oversaturated and the speakers sounded a little scratchy. The soaps and shampoo weren't great either, so bring your own. At yotel the toilet is separate from the area where you'd keep your toothbrush; point a doesn't have that, which was disappointing. A fan ran constantly at a volume that made it hard to sleep. I also felt herded at check-in. The staff member took me to a computer and asked how long I was staying. When I said I'd already booked, he said, “Yes. And we're going to use the COMPUTER to SIGN. YOU. IN.” Maybe he thought he was being professional, but it came across as unfriendly and rude. I really hope they do something about that guy.

The hotel was very clean and modern, with a nice restaurant area and plenty of space. Breakfast was a buffet with a good range of cereals, juice, fruit, yoghurt, bread and pastries. It's very central for going out at night, and the desk staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

We stayed as a family in room 104 for a week, from 3 January to 8 January 2026, and I was so impressed. The room was neat, the service wonderful and everything was on point. Fraser was so kind and helpful, always smiling, and Louise and Rossi were great too. Thank you all for being so welcoming, and thanks to the management for the good service. I really felt I got my money's worth, like at a five-star hotel. I'll definitely stay again next time.

The location was handy, close to restaurants, pubs and shops, and an eight-minute walk from the bus station. We stayed for two nights in October, and the room was fine for that length of time, with the basics. All the front desk staff we met were friendly, and they let us into our room early, which we appreciated. I could also get hot water at reception to make tea in our room. I was glad there were gluten-free breakfast options. We didn't expect the room to be cleaned, but the tiny rubbish bins were full both nights. My husband ended up taking ours to one of the ladies cleaning other rooms. It would have helped if the bins were emptied each day. We also didn't get a hand towel. A second bedside table would be useful as a place to put clothes that don't need hanging up.

I slept really well, the bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless with everything I needed. This was my first stay, and I'd happily come back. The staff were beyond helpful when I arrived and checked out. I enjoyed the tea and coffee at reception, though I did miss having a kettle and tea in my room. A very pleasant stay, and the staff are a real credit to the hotel. Thank you xx
