Sandyford Hotel

This is an old building with plenty of charm, and the staff were kind and helpful. There are bus stops right outside, plus plenty of places to eat and nearby grocery stores. Three subway stations are about a 16-20 minute walk away. Kelvinhall is the best option for me since it's just down the road and avoids the park at night. The beds were a little uncomfortable, but I'd stay again.

We picked this hotel for its excellent location near the OVO Hydro, where we were going to a concert. The room was much as I expected, okay and fairly clean, though a little worn. The creaky, sloping floors gave it some charm. The bathroom was small but seemed fairly recently updated. You can hear people in the hallway or outside quite easily, though noise wasn't an issue for us apart from a little street traffic.

We stayed for a gig at the OVO Hydro by the river Clyde. The rooms were basic but clean and big enough for two adults, with a TV, kettle, tea and coffee, and a small bathroom with a shower and sink. There are two parking bays outside, but you need to get a ticket across the road. At £1.20 for 15 mins, that adds up fast. The receptionist did tell me about a cheaper car park, staffed all day and locked at night, for £15.00 all day and night. Keep coins handy for parking in Glasgow, as the meters only take coins and are expensive. Check online whether breakfast is included. If not, it's £10.00 per person at reception. There's a wetherspoons pub a short walk toward the city centre where breakfast and a drink cost less. Most staff were easy to talk to, but a few were abrupt, and I think some could use a course in customer service manners. There are lots of bars, restaurants, and shops nearby, and the city centre is about a 30 to 40 minutes walk. After reading other reviews, I was disappointed. Still, the rooms are basic and clean, and fine for a night or two.

The hotel is a bit old and tatty, but it was clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast is large and good value if you fancy it.
