The food was the highlight of our three-night stay with breakfast and evening meals. I've never had better hotel food. It was like fine dining, but the portions were substantial and everything came hot. Our large party tried all the menu options between us, with three or four starters, mains and desserts to choose from, and everyone agreed. We'd return next year just to eat here again. The bar and reception were cosy, with an open fire and comfortable seats. Our bedroom was a bit dated but perfectly adequate, clean, and everything worked. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, and the heating was easy to adjust. There were lots of TV channels, though we didn't use the TV because we liked sitting in the bar so much. The shower was over the bath, which would have been a struggle for me if I had mobility issues.

I had hoped to enjoy my overnight stay at The Winnock more. Drymen is lovely, and the food was good, as were the helpful bar staff, but I wouldn't stay here again. The rooms were spotless but dated and very basic. Maybe I was unlucky, but the person next door was extremely loud and inconsiderate of other hotel guests. Some of the reception staff could have been better. I had to ask what to do for breakfast and where to go, when most hotels explain that when you arrive.

I'd happily come back. I really enjoyed the stay, and the hotel's location is lovely. It's popular with coach parties, and has a welcoming reception with an open fire, a good-sized bar, attentive reception and fantastic staff. The standard rooms are compact but nice, with a kettle and hot drinks provided. The cleaners could look up now and then and clear away cobwebs. It is an old building, so don't expect a quiet night's sleep: the rooms aren't soundproof, and people talking loudly in the corridors woke me at 0730. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, with overdone poached eggs and underdone toast, but that's a small complaint about a lovely hotel. There's a large banquetting area that would be ideal for weddings. I didn't have dinner there, so can't comment on it.

The location worked really well for my WHW hike, and my room was clean and comfortable. Reception staff were very friendly, though I found the bar staff could have been nicer. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.

The food and service in the bar were very good. We didn't stay for breakfast, so can't comment on that. Most of the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, and our large bedroom had a sofa that made the stay more comfortable. Having a bath was great after hiking, and the village was lovely. We enjoyed Skoosh cafe and a pint in the cosy bar at Clachan Inn. As a dog-friendly West Highland Way stopover, the hotel was fine for us, especially compared with camping, but it felt dated and unloved. Our room was down a long, winding corridor and around four separate flights of stairs, which was difficult with luggage and a dog needing to go out. The room wasn't particularly clean: when we pulled the bed forward for the plug socket, we found what looked like ten years of dust and hair, and the carpet had several stains. Half of the double bed had completely broken springs and couldn't be used. Luckily, there was an extra single bed, which was comfortable. The walls were thin, so we could hear people in the corridor and nearby rooms, though it was generally quiet after 11pm. Our room was above the butchers, and the fridges hummed constantly. I slept with AirPods in to block it out.
