It was very quiet, with a nice view and what looked like recently renovated bathrooms. The beds were clean, though the heating varied. The outside was confusing because there were so few signs, and the building looked scary at night. Rooms aren't cleaned or changed during the stay, so you have to contact the host for most things to be topped up. I wouldn't recommend it for women travelling alone.

The family who run the place are wonderful and can offer all kinds of tips for things to see nearby. The views are gorgeous, and having a pub downstairs is a great bonus. It feels like the best value I've ever had in a hotel, worth every penny, and it's my go-to in the area. I always have a great stay here. The beds are comfortable, rooms are warm in winter, and breakfast is lovely every morning.

Breakfast was good, though you had to pay for it separately. Price and breakfast were the main draws for me. It was a little out of the way for tourists and seemed geared toward work crews. The place was worn, with small, very basic rooms and a general sense of untidiness.

The room was fabulous, modern and clean, and the view of the Lomond Hills was something to behold. The building itself is tired, but Ryan and his team are doing a great job, especially since they've only been running things a short time. This isn't the Greenside Hotel anymore, it's called House on the Greenside now. It's rooms only, with no hotel facilities, and there isn't a lift. There are shared spaces, including a dining and communal room where you can make drinks and toast, eat a takeaway or just sit and relax. You need to press a switch 30 minutes before showering to heat the hot water, which was no problem for us.

I spent five nights here while working and would highly recommend it. It's quiet and peaceful, with lovely rooms and bathrooms, comfortable beds and great views. It's family run and the breakfast is fantastic. Thanks, Agnes, for a lovely stay.
