Inside, the chalet was comfortable, thoughtfully decorated and had everything we needed. The chocolate and little bottle of prosecco were a nice surprise. My partner and I spent two nights there, and although the outside looked a bit dated, it was a pleasant stay. We were disappointed that the hot tub didn't reach its set temperature until midnight, as we'd hoped to use it on our first evening. The lounge TV also felt too small for the room, so we moved the furniture nearer. Still, we had a lovely time, thank you.

The staff made this stay especially lovely. Everyone we met, from housekeeping and reception to the bar and restaurant, was friendly, attentive and happy to help. We had both breakfast and dinner, and the food was fresh, hot and beautifully presented. Our room was clean, warm and stocked with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. The hotel sits opposite the bay in a gorgeous setting, and the grounds and building were well kept with beautiful Christmas decorations. We came for two nights with our dog and really didn't want to go home. What a stunning place. We'll be back soon, thank you for such a great experience.

Sharon gave us such a cheerful welcome at check-in, and kept making time for a chat whenever we passed. She's a gem. Wren, our housekeeper, and Rachel, whom we met as we were leaving, were also so warm and lovely, as were all the other staff who looked after us. The breakfasts and dinners were lovely too. Netherwood is a grand old lady, and it felt like a privilege to stay there. We usually go to a large hotel in Windermere, but we're so glad we tried this one. The property and facilities were great. We were very happy we'd stumbled across it, and really didn't want to leave. Thanks, Netherwood. Can't wait to return! Love, Scott and Mark.

The rooms feel very worn and badly need updating. The shower must be at least 30 years old. The food was average at best, though the bar staff were lovely. I definitely won't be back.

The staff were what stood out most. We met five different people and they were all welcoming and lovely, with nothing too much trouble. They're a credit to Netherwood. My friend booked us Afternoon Tea while I was visiting, and the venue was amazing. The food was excellent, with Christmas decorations and two lovely open fires. We had a wonderful afternoon 😊
