I’m a very disappointed birthday girl. We arrived at the caravan soaked after a wet, blustery day, and things quickly got worse. Both gas cylinders were empty, so we couldn’t get the pilot light going or have a hot shower. The electric fire in the communal area worked only now and then, blowing hot air for at most two minutes before beeping and switching off. There was no internet, and no phone signal on site. The owner took several hours to reply, then gave us a number that isn’t staffed after 6pm. After that, we got no further accountability from them. We spent an hour trying to find help and make calls, but no one could hear us. In the end I asked a restaurant staff member if there was a communal phone for maintenance. They radioed security, who came about an hour and a half later and confirmed the gas was out. Roughly another hour after that, they fitted one new cylinder, and we finally had hot water. We’re both sniffly and feel like we’re coming down with head colds after the ordeal. We headed home feeling defeated and at odds with each other. The caravan is part of a Haven Holiday site. The site itself is basic for a Haven park. Google shows what looks like amazing scenery, and I’m sure the caravan and surroundings would be lovely in the height of summer, when you’re there for the area rather than the holiday park.
