Angel & Royal Hotel

The room was really spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. It’s a stunning hotel. The only criticism is that the corridor light was out, so it was quite dark as I went through the corridor to my room. I let reception know.

I loved this place. I went to a wedding there, and it was amazing. The venue is full of history, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the service very professional. I didn’t stay the night, so I can’t comment on the rooms, though I’m guessing they’re just as good.

The bathroom let the room down: the sink didn’t drain properly, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly either. The room itself was nice, with a 4 poster bed, and the lobby looked good. The Christmas trees and decorations were pretty too. We regretted ordering breakfast. The orange and apple juice was very cheap and naf, and cafetiere coffee was the only option. We heard other guests ask for cappuccino as well. The historic dining room was interesting, but cold. At £18.95, breakfast was poor. The place needs some investment and updating. The staff were polite and professional.

Kurtis Wright, the Head Chef, put together an incredible menu. The canapés were delicious, and our guests are still talking about the three-course dinner. We also loved the cocktails at the Angel Bar, where the bar team were friendly, professional and efficient all evening. We hosted our wedding reception at the Angel & Royal Hotel, and the day felt relaxed and seamless. Marie in Events was organised, reassuring and genuinely caring throughout, making sure every detail was right. On the day, Teresa, the Hotel Manager, and the whole hospitality team looked after us wonderfully from start to finish. We’re grateful to everyone at the Angel & Royal for making our wedding such a special, memorable celebration.
