Beehive Inn

The beer garden is open again, as it should be, and it’s a really nice spot. There’s a much better choice of drinks on tap too. It used to be owned by a grumpy man who once flat-out refused to serve me because he couldn’t be bothered. The current owner is a nice guy, and it’s much better now.

The Beehive has that local pub feel, and Andy and his team make it a relaxed, calm place to spend time. There’s a pool table indoors and a fantastic beer garden. I love the time I’ve spent here.

I was working nights nearby as a traffic management operative and stayed here. The Landlord was friendly, and was fine with me stopping by for the keys the afternoon before my stay. My room was very comfortable, with a large wet room. I can’t fault the quality, service or friendliness of this Inn. Only letdown is they’re fully booked next week, so I’ll need to stay somewhere else. 10/10. Kev, a seasoned traveller.

Room 4 was spacious, with one single bed and one double, though it was called a twin. It was bright and clean, with a small flat screen TV, kettle, and plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. The room had its own entrance along the side of the pub, in what may have been an old stable block. Automatic passive infrared lights helped me avoid tripping over all the traffic cones. A few things let it down. The main light was broken, and the wet room floor stayed covered in about half an inch of water after a shower. There was no bath, and the toilet flush button was countersunk, though I’m sure it wasn’t meant to be. There were no bedside tables, and the beds took up nearly all the space, so I had to put my phone and glasses on top of the radiator. Overall, it was very good.
