We were ten people staying for three nights. The good points were the hot tub, which was cleaned and maintained each day, the location near a beautiful village, and having several living rooms and bathrooms. The cleanliness was a real disappointment. When I arrived the first evening, there was dust and cobwebs in every room. The blinds in the downstairs annexe bedrooms had at least 20 dead midges on them when rolled down, and there were dead bugs squashed into the carpet and skirting boards. There was rubbish from previous guests under the bunk bed, dirty dishes in the cupboards, broken glasses on the shelves, and some broken dining chairs. My bed had hairs and debris on the bottom sheet. I contacted the property and they sent a cleaner the next day, but the clean still wasn't thorough. I don't usually write reviews, but I was so disappointed and honestly disgusted by the state of the place, even after another cleaner came to try to sort it out. I paid nearly £1800 for three nights, and at that price I expect the property to be clean at a minimum.

It's an easy walk to the nearby walks and hikes, and only 5-10 minutes on foot from the centre of Grasmere. The cottage is spacious, with a big kitchen and wood burner that makes it feel cosy and works well for a large group. WiFi broadband is provided, and the TV has Netflix, Amazon Prime and BBC iPlayer, though you need your own Netflix or Prime account. A lovely place to stay.

We were a group of five and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was spotless, the house was lovely, and Christine was very professional. It's a nice walk of about 10 minutes to the village. 10/10.
