We chose this for my partner's birthday, and the peaceful setting made it a really memorable break. Our spacious, comfortable room had everything we needed, plus a lovely balcony with fantastic views. It stayed quiet throughout, too. The restaurant team deserve a mention: they were friendly, attentive and funny, and the food was excellent, with plenty of choice and beautifully presented dishes. Staff in general were consistently polite and helpful. We also found the spa clean, well maintained and calming, with a thoughtful water fountain that was welcome once the warmth built up. It got quite busy in the afternoons, though, and the relatively small space could feel crowded, especially when people were waiting for the infrared loungers. We had a fantastic stay and would happily come back. The staff, food and facilities all helped make the birthday celebration special.

The hotel sits in lovely grounds with a river running past, and it's well placed for Grasmere. Dinner was delicious, especially the cheese soufflé and chocolate mess. The rooms are lovely and cosy, and the spa is small but good, with one of the best steam rooms and saunas I've been in. Big thanks to the friendly, attentive restaurant staff. Would recommend!

The room looked out over the river, and the spa was a welcome chance to relax. We had an amazing stay at rothay garden, in a great spot within Grasmere. The food was divine, and I'd drive back just for the chocolate pudding. Highly recommend.

I took my mother for birthday afternoon tea, and despite the heavy rain and hail showers, we had a lovely time. They serve it in the conservatory overlooking the gardens, a really nice setting. The food looked good and tasted good. We especially enjoyed the lemon macarons and the turkey, stuffing and relish sandwiches. There was a decent range of teas, including fruit options like mango and strawberry, which was very nice, as well as decaf. The staff were pleasant and attentive without hovering. At around £70 for two it wasn't cheap, but for a special occasion it felt worth it.

A lovely hotel and spa in Grasmere, just the thing after a long walk. The spa and food were nice, and the bed was especially comfortable. The three-course meal was reasonably priced and tasted good. Breakfast was beautiful, but it could have been served warmer, as it was lukewarm.
