Lee was courteous and so helpful, nothing seemed like too much trouble. This was our third stay here, and we’d happily come back if we’re in the Musselburgh area again.

The restaurant was in a sorry state, with worn interiors and rotten window frames. Its gents’ toilet absolutely stank of urine, and the hotel carpet was matted in places. The food was disgusting, the fish looked as if it had been cooked in Hammerite. The restaurant also regularly shuts for “technical issues,” which we suspect is code for staffing problems. The rooms are old too, and the bathroom mold has been painted over but is creeping back through. This Premier Inn is falling apart. Avoid.

The staff were polite and helpful, but I wouldn’t come back. I only chose the hotel for convenience, and next time I’d rather pay double to stay elsewhere. It’s a bit worn and run down, and being so close to the bypass makes decent windows important. I’ve stayed here before in a room facing the back fields and couldn’t hear the road, so it probably depends which part of the hotel you’re in. My room smelled of stale cigarettes mixed with an overwhelming amount of cleaning product. There were still cobwebs, dust and spiders around. The window didn’t shut properly, the latch area was wobbly and the curtains moved in the draught. The air vent seemed closed, and it was odd to see paint over parts of the frame and latch. Noise from the nearby bypass was noticeable.

It’s turned into a stay-with-no-options sort of place. The bar and restaurant no longer open at night, and the buffet breakfast is barely edible. The rooms feel dated, the carpets are dirty, and there’s a damp smell. The WiFi is awful when you can get connected at all.
