Stonegarth Cottage

We had a very enjoyable week at Stonegarth mews. The location is central, with restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops nearby, and there's a bus stop close by if you don't want to drive. The setting is peaceful, there's a designated off-road parking space, and the WiFi was reliable. The open-plan kitchen and living area worked well. A few things could be better: the bathroom is very dim and its extractor fan is noisy, while the shower needs better water pressure and temperature. For a seven-night stay, two toilet rolls and one bath or hand towel each weren't enough, and there was no soap in the bathroom. The downstairs area has no blinds, so privacy is limited. There isn't much room in the kitchen cupboards for your own things, and the breakfast bar isn't an ideal substitute for a dining table for everyone.

Right in the centre of Grasmere, these self-contained cottages are a real gem in the Lake District. They're stylish, plush and wonderfully comfortable, with everything you could need for a perfect stay. The views are breathtaking in every direction, and the charming village location makes the place even more special.

The hosts have hospitality down to an art: they're fascinating and funny, and the delicious food was served with no fuss. We got a warm, friendly welcome in a beautifully designed house with very generously sized rooms. The huge beds were luxurious, and the large en suites were meticulously clean. I loved the warm oak floors with underfloor heating, especially as I like going without socks. A must.

Sharon and Attilio are superb owners and hosts, always doing everything they can to make guests comfortable. We had a wonderful time in their apartment in Grasmere and will be back.
