Hopewell Self-Catering

Hopewell was a lovely, compact place to stay while I was working in the area. It was clean and tidy, with everything I needed. There's a washer and dryer at the end of the garden, which is beautiful and very well kept. The owners were smashing, down to earth and respectful of our space. Debbie is quirky, funny and delightful to chat to. I think I'd bring a bottle of wine to share if I stayed again. I'd put my back out the week before, and the bed at the Camponile Hotel where I was staying then was dreadful. The amazingly comfortable bed at Hopewell, along with a back support I bought when I arrived, really saved me and meant I could get back to work. The owner kindly gave me ice packs for my back. There's no freezer in the accommodation, but the owners are happy for you to use theirs. There's a co op not far away and a morrisons a bit further. For a drink and a meal, try The Green Man pub. It's a bit pricey, but the setting is lovely.

I got a confirmation email with a booking reference from your husband, but when I arrived at 4pm the next day, the house was empty and nobody answered the phone. I waited an hour and left a message on the landline, then had to spend over an hour calling local hotels to find somewhere else. That made me late for meetings and left me unable to get changed and ready for an evening meeting. At 8:45pm the owner called to say she hadn't had a booking, but told me to call if I still wanted to stay. I've had no apology at all. What awful service and a terrible experience.

I’ve heard lots of good things about this lovely place to stay!

Ronnie and Ant. What a great place to stay. The people are friendly and helpful, and we'll definitely be back.
