The Carpenters Arms

We’re lucky to have the Carpenters Arms as our local. Everyone always makes us feel welcome, and we love coming in. Ben & team gave us a fantastic meal: tasty starters, mains and desserts, plus a superb bottle of wine. It was a lovely prize to win in your Xmas raffle after we’d bought tickets. The prize was dinner for two, three courses and a bottle of wine.

The staff were polite and helpful, and the food was good quality, though service and the food took a little while to arrive. That could be an issue when they’re fully booked. We came for a small family get-together. The dining room is nicely decorated and spacious, but there’s only one toilet in that area. There may be others by the bar, though I’m not sure, so it could mean a wait when it’s busy. The menu felt limited and a bit disappointing. I’d guess it changes seasonally or regularly. Prices seemed a little high for what was offered: the only steak was £29 and came with chips and a tomato. Kids’ meals at £11 seem reasonable for a bigger child, but a bit expensive for a four-year-old.

We had another amazing time, as usual. On New Year’s Eve our party was asked to pre-order, which worked really well: we could have a drink before dinner, then sit down and wait for our meals. The staff were attentive and happy to hear what we needed. My husband and two others in our party often come for Thursday lunch, and we’re never disappointed. Thank you.

We arrived early on Sunday with 20 cars for breakfast, and the car park worked well for the RPOC – Redbourn Porsche Owners Club. The Carpenter’s Arms was a great choice, with a lovely setting and a welcoming atmosphere. The team made everything easy, from booking to sorting payment for the group breakfasts. Service ran smoothly so early in the morning, and the food and service were superb. A fantastic stop for a car club looking for breakfast.
