Breakfast was reasonable, and service was quick and clearly adapted well to the current COVID issues. The host was friendly and polite, and very apologetic when needed. At £45, I suppose we got what we paid for, though I probably wouldn’t stay again. We’d been told guest parking was available, but there are only eight spaces, and parking on the road outside costs £4.50 for four hours. When we arrived, the host was welcoming, but our first room hadn’t been cleaned: the bed was unmade, wet towels were on the bathroom floor, and dirty mugs were on the table. There was also £10 on the table, which we assumed was for service, so we left it. After we raised the room issue, the host apologized and moved us to a “superior sea view room.” It wasn’t much bigger than the first, but did have a table by the window and some storage furniture. The sea view was lovely, though the room was beside a busy road, even at night. The weather made it too hot to keep the window shut, and passing cars woke us up. The bed was extremely soft, with what seemed to be a thick piece of foam, possibly memory foam, over the mattress. Every movement from either of us shook the whole bed, so we slept terribly. In the bathroom, several tiles were broken and the shower was far too small. The slightest movement could turn the temperature tap, making the water suddenly freeze or burn, depending on which way it moved. When we checked out, we were polite and said the service was good. We didn’t feel a need to complain, but the host then mentioned a “special offer”: review them on booking.com while still there, give all “10s,” and get £10 back. We declined because giving full marks would have felt misleading.

I was disappointed with our stay. The staff were very friendly, and the location was good, but the bed was only half comfortable. The room needed tidying up and a deep clean, with lots of scuff marks on the walls. The bathroom smelled stale, probably because the shower water wouldn’t drain away. I’m unlikely to stay here again.

The gorgeous sea view and balcony were my favourite parts of the room. It was lovely to step outside in the morning and watch the sun rise over the sea. The room was spacious and very clean, with a comfy bed, nice decor, marble units and table, and a hot shower with good water pressure. There was some damage, but it wasn’t a big issue. Brilliant host, very welcoming and entertaining. I highly recommend this hotel for a holiday in Great Yarmouth, and I’ll definitely stay again. -Amber M, Arron C

We weren’t impressed by breakfast, and only ate it once even though it was included. The breakfast staff gave very good service, but the food just wasn’t good. At over £70 a night, it didn’t feel worth the money, despite the good location, and I won’t stay again. We started in one room, but the bed broke when someone weighing under 65 kg sat on it. The manager was shocked and eventually “upgraded” us to a sea view room. To be fair, it was larger and a little better than the first, though bird droppings on the windows spoiled the view somewhat.

The room was filthy. There was an empty beer can and wet towels still on the floor, and hygiene throughout the hotel was atrocious. Breakfast was offered, but honestly, I wouldn’t have fed it to my dog. My wife and I were greeted by a miserable, rude staff member who showed no interest in making us happy. This sham ruined our holiday in the wonderful seaside resort of Great Yarmouth. I’d call it a money-grabbing excuse for a hotel. I’d give zero stars if I could, but this one star certainly isn’t praise. I won’t return, and I hope other customers stay away too.
