The staff were wonderful and genuinely wanted to look after us, but they had little control over the problems. Room 412 smelled of cigarette smoke, especially in the bathroom. Staff confirmed it and sprayed the room, but it kept coming back through the ventilation from another room. We needed a snack before a later event. Only one of the two soups we ordered was available, so I chose the fish gougons instead. They arrived with an apology about their appearance, but tasted nothing like fish and had the texture of reconstituted chicken. The attached video, with the sound up, shows how cheap the ingredients seem. Staff refunded the charge. Breakfast also seemed cheap: a sausage that looked like a shriveled prune and tasted of nothing, plus cold plates for hot food.

For one night, it was perfectly adequate. The second-floor room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom fine and the shower really good. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food, and it was topped up regularly. The hotel is handy for bars and restaurants, right beside Grimsby Town railway station, but we weren’t bothered by noise. Parking cost £9 for 24 hours, paid by QR code or at the machine in the car park.

If you’re staying in Grimsby, this is a great hotel at a good price. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are spacious, the showers are awesome and breakfast is really good too.

The staff were kind and helpful, breakfast was free, and my dog was welcome, which made for a really enjoyable stay. My only room gripe was the floor creaking wherever I walked. I also found it odd that there wasn't a single drawer.
