We decided to try breakfast here after seeing good reviews on the local community page, and it was a good call. The food was freshly cooked and tasty, and the price was very good for two adults and one child. You could help yourself to coffee, tea, juices, toast and pastries. Everything felt fresh and clean, and the service was friendly, personal and came with a smile. We’ll be looking to eat here again soon.

The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the restaurant food was great for a very reasonable price. Rooms are reasonably priced too, and there’s plenty of parking. We had a small issue with the security alarm going off during the night, but when we mentioned it at checkout, the staff went out of their way to make up for it. I’d definitely stay again. It’s a good, honest place. Drinks seemed a little expensive at £4-10 a pint, though maybe that’s the going rate around here. The rooms themselves are fine.

I nearly cancelled my booking for 18th March after reading some bad reviews and publicity, but family I trust had stayed recently and reassured me. I was there for four nights and got a deluxe room upgrade, which was a bonus. It was spacious, clean and quiet, with tea and coffee topped up each day, and the room was cleaned daily. The communal areas were tidy, and breakfast was very nice with a good range to choose from. The first night there were no towels because they’d been let down by the dry cleaners, but that was sorted the next day. The bed was very hard, which made sleeping difficult. Overall it was a reasonably priced budget hotel and good value, and I would recommend it based on my stay. One thing to bear in mind: the manager and manageress had arrived in November and were leaving the Monday after my visit, so I’d reserve judgement until you’ve been yourself.

The breakfast was very good, and I was impressed by the service and how much I got. I stayed for one night and found everyone welcoming. I had trouble locking my door, but as soon as I told someone, they went out of their way to get it fixed quickly. I felt reassured, and it didn’t affect my stay. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful, and the lady night porter was a gem who really went out of her way for us. I’d stay again and recommend it to anyone in the area. 10 out of 10 recommendations for all!

Carol is turning this place around, and it’s lovely now. My Mum and I came in for coffee and wine today. We had a bad experience last time, but that was a long time ago. The staff were really pleasant, and we’ll definitely come back for coffee, wine or even food. You can drop in anytime just for a drink and a catch-up with friends.
