Castle View Hotel

We’d happily stay here again when we’re in Chepstow. Our room, number 5, looked onto the back gardens, where the pond’s gentle trickle made for a really peaceful evening. It was bright and spacious, with a lovely modern feel inside the beautiful old building, and had clearly been renovated recently. The bed and bedding were very comfortable, so we slept well. Breakfast was relaxed and lovely, and the service was friendly and laid back. The castle is right across the road. Thanks for a great one-night stopover 😊

We were here for a gig at the castle, which is directly across the road. There’s also a public car park nearby, just £6.80 for 24 hours. The hotel was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was amazing. Breakfast was freshly cooked and generous, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A perfect stay, and we’d definitely come back. Highly recommend it.

Our room was warm and comfortable, with tasteful decor and a 17 century painting. The rooms in the main building are well appointed, and you can see that upgrades are underway. Breakfast was good quality and nicely served. I’d stay again. It would help if the proprietor gathered the boxes and other bits into one place instead of stepping through the dining room, and room 4’s leaking toilet diaphragm could do with attention.

We had to find another hotel for the night because I couldn’t safely stay in this room. It smelled so strongly of mould that I started coughing within five minutes, and the window frame was rotten and looked ready to fall out. We weren’t told our room was at the far end of the garden, and its entrance looked like a junkyard. There was no staff in the building when we arrived, and we waited two hours to get the entry code. I can only imagine what breakfast might have been like. For your own safety, don’t stay here.
