We were here overnight for a line dancing event. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the large ground floor room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a clean showroom. The lighting was limited to bedside lamps and two tall standing lamps, with no ceiling light, so it wasn't enough. I was glad to find herbal tea along with regular tea and coffee, though there were no biscuits. The event buffet had its own table with gluten free, dairy free, and vegan choices.

The customer service was lovely throughout my three night stay, and the reception staff were particularly pleasant and helpful. There are no lifts, so anyone who struggles with stairs should ask for a ground floor room. There are only two floors, ground and first. The building feels surrounded by proper woodland, with lots of room to walk about, and the car park is massive. My room was a bit dated but comfortable, with the usual things provided: kettle, tea and coffee sachets, milk, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, toiletries, and towels. Breakfast had a decent spread. When I asked, they kindly made me a lovely cheese omelette with peppers. I enjoyed the freshly made pulled pork pizza on the second evening. The thick crust was good, though I would've liked it a little spicier, and I'd try other pizzas next time. My dinner on the first evening was less successful. The chicken wings were among the worst I've had, fully fried, dry, and fibrous, when I wanted them succulent and falling off the bone. The vegetable side salad was just overcooked broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. That was a bad choice on my part, so I won't order it again.

I was there for a course, not staying overnight, and there were lots of people attending meetings and courses in rooms of different sizes. The reception felt warm and Christmassy, and smelled divine. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I had coffee, and loved the personal handwritten note on the saucer serviette. The settee and chairs were comfortable and inviting. The toilets were clean and warm, with hot water at the taps. It's easy to find, just off the M4, and there's loads of parking.

We don't know what the rooms are like, but the staff gave us excellent care when we came for a delicious Christmas lunch. Our car broke down afterward, leaving us stranded for about six hours while we waited for rescue. It was stressful with a six month old baby and a three year old, and Rhys was especially wonderful, repeatedly going between us and the kitchen to wash and sterilise bottles for our daughter. He couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Meg at reception was also very kind, offering little gestures to make the wait easier even though we weren't official guests.

I’m at the Holiday Inn Newport most weeks, and the reliable standard is why I keep returning. The staff make the difference, especially Emma and Liz. They’re professional, friendly, and genuinely caring, always making guests feel valued and never acting as if anything is too much trouble. They’re a real credit to the hotel. Breakfast is a highlight, with plenty of fresh choices and a smile to start the day. The bar and restaurant team are welcoming and attentive too, and the food is excellent. From the warm welcome at the door to the service throughout, this hotel delivers week after week. It truly sets the standard for hospitality.
