Parkway Hotel & Spa

We didn’t stay overnight, just had a few drinks. The grounds are lovely for sitting outside, and there was a man playing piano in the bar. We spent a nice few hours there. The menu looked reasonably priced too, so we’ll try it next time. We’ll be going back.

We spent a two-day midweek break at The Parkway Spar Hotel and had a very good experience, with excellent service from all the staff. Our ground-floor room was lovely and comfortable. Breakfast included a cooked option and a fruit buffet, with a small table menu for things like salmon scrambled eggs, porridge, kippers and eggs benedict. In the evenings we tried the light bites, which also had a good variety. The pool was warm and very nice. We’d been told in advance that the jacuzzi was under maintenance. We visited Tredegar House, which is worth seeing. The Queen Inn pub restaurant nearby is also a great, highly recommended vegan restaurant.

The rooms were clean, well serviced and well maintained, and the team made us feel welcome and relaxed as soon as we arrived. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. The restaurant staff were especially lovely, creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The hotel was clearly busy, but it never felt crowded. It’s easy to find and close to the M4, with plenty of function space as well as a spa and lounge cafe. The spa is calm and relaxing. Parts were being renovated while we were there, but that didn’t spoil the experience. This place is an unassuming gem. I’d recommend it and will visit again.

There’s a lively open wood fire and the service is professional. The hotel has a lovely, homely feel, almost like a cruise. A few changes could improve the experience, and I plan to pass that feedback on to the hotel. I’ll return, as I think it could be a first-class place with a few tweaks.
