The room was clean, the bed comfortable for a few nights, and there was plenty of parking. But active travel seems to have been overlooked. We arrived by train and used the bus during our stay, yet there’s no pedestrian entrance near the bus stop or crossing on the busy road. The only way in is through the car entrance, which has no footpath. As far as I could tell, there’s no cycle storage or parking either. Places that assume everyone will drive make it harder for the rest of us to visit, even as we’re meant to be encouraging public transport and active travel. The room was also too hot in warm weather, and it’s basic for somewhere that still isn’t truly budget priced. Breakfast would have added up quickly over our five nights: £11 each for a cooked breakfast and £9 for continental. My wife and I could easily have spent more than £100, but we didn’t.

The shower was hot and had decent pressure, better than we’ve had in some budget hotels. There were plenty of sockets, just not by the beds. The room was clean and had the basics, including tea, and was pretty much what we expected. Our daughter’s single bed hadn’t been made when we arrived, but a friendly staff member sorted it quickly. We heard a fair bit of hallway noise around 9pm, though it soon stopped. Later, someone in the room above was thudding around at 1am and woke two of us. Still, the bed was good enough and we slept okay. It was a nice enough stay.

The room and bathroom were both a good size, and we got a warm, friendly welcome with all the information we needed. There’s a large car park and it’s free, and a Toby Carvery next door. There are stairs up to the upper floor. I’d probably stay again if I was in the area.

Had a really enjoyable, quiet stay and we’ll definitely come back. The breakfast was lovely, and the woman serving there was so friendly and happy to help with anything. The receptionist with purple hair was welcoming and lovely too. Sorry I didn’t catch her name. Thank you!

We booked in as a group of 44 for a weekend away and the service was good. The rooms were clean, the car park was large, and the location worked really well for us. Pretty much what you’d expect from a Premier Inn.
