Premier Inn Monmouth

The bed was comfy, and both the location and staff were great. But the room was far too hot and stuffy, with no air coming through, and the whole hotel smelled of cooked food and sweat. The windows don’t open, so avoid if you need fresh air. The air conditioning being set to 19°C seems like sheer madness. We’re in Wales, let me breathe!

The food was the highlight, with some really delicious things on the menu, and the staff were lovely too. When I checked in, everyone was polite and welcoming. I work as a mobile Radiographer and have stayed at quite a few Premier Inns, and this has been one of the more pleasant ones. I’m looking forward to being back next week!

A large car park and an easy walk into town were handy. The room was a good size, with a very comfortable bed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, well cooked and tasty. A very good hotel.

The room was unbelievably hot. We were on the second floor, the heating wouldn’t go below 19 degrees, there was no fan, and the windows wouldn’t open, even with a security restrictor. I overheat easily, but my partner is usually cold and even she was complaining. I had to dry off with a towel. She didn’t have anything to do for the two days we were there, but I did, and the heat left me sleeping badly before something very physical in the warmth. The staff were absolutely amazing, and the location was brilliant for where we needed to be. Would I stay again? Yes, in the middle of the next ice age, for the staff and location.
