This is a pub now, not a hotel, and it’s fantastic. The atmosphere is awesome, with great bands every Saturday and fantastic staff. They do old-school bartending, listen, and have a good chat with you and the regulars. The prices are such good value, they beat Wetherspoons by a mile.

The Castle Hotel is the pub, while The Castle Lodge is the apartments, so they’re separate places. We stayed in a lovely, warm, clean two-bedroom apartment behind The Castle Hotel, with all the facilities we needed. The accommodation owners were in touch from the start to see if we needed anything. Tasha, the pub landlady, was incredibly helpful too. She booked us a local table for food and found taxis for us. When I left my bag in a taxi, she tracked down the driver and got it returned. Later, my son lost his phone at a local clubhouse, and Tasha arranged for her son to get that back to us. She couldn’t have done more to help, and made our stay in Tredegar very pleasant.

We stopped by the pub several times on our recent trip. The landlady and staff were friendly and welcoming, the live entertainment was brilliant, and there was a good range of drinks at very reasonable prices.

We came to see a band, and the place was absolutely packed. The atmosphere was great, there was no entry fee, and non-alcoholic drinks were £1 a can.

We were only there for two minutes when a woman yelled at my friend over two waters he hadn’t ordered. There was no other issue, he just hadn’t asked for them, but she wouldn’t listen. Great first impression, gang.
