The location is absolutely stunning, and Geraldine was so lovely and friendly when we stayed for a night before a canoeing trip. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. In the evening we had a lovely picnic on the terrace by the riverbank, watching the sunset. We also came back for snacks after our trip. The bacon baps at breakfast were some of the best we've ever had, and the chilli and garlic pork pie was sensational. The brownie and cappuccino-slice were great too. A really special place.

Our room, Dipper, looked away from the road and was very quiet. The riverside setting is lovely, with beautiful views from the cafe terrace at breakfast. Breakfast wasn't included, but guests get 10% off, and the host was charming. It's particularly handy if you're hiring from Wye Valley Canoes or Ultimate Canoe & Kayak to paddle down the Wye, as we did. That stretch of river was glorious. For dinner, Foyles is worth a splurge if you can afford it, but its B&B was too expensive for us.

The river views were really lovely, and the service was brilliant. I had one of the best bacon rolls I've ever tasted here today. Big thanks to Jane, I'll definitely be back soon.

The guest house is next to a fairly busy bridge over the Wye, so if you're a light sleeper and want the windows open in summer, earplugs might help. We were worn out from the day's activities and slept well, but I can see how the noise could bother some people. The rooms were clean and well equipped, and Geraldine was a perfect host. The food was lovely too, with the best bacon roll I've had in years.

This Sunday Lunch takeaway tastes just like a roast your mum would make. Highly recommend it, but book an early pickup because it sells out fast.
