We mainly use a hotel room to keep our things and sleep, and this was good value for that. The room was warm, clean and tidy, with twin beds and an ensuite shower room. It had the usual short-stay basics, including hot drink supplies and a TV, and plenty of sockets for charging devices, which isn’t always the case in older hotels. We got a warm welcome, then could come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was available and there was a club bar with a TV, though we didn’t use either. Our room faced the A629, but the road noise didn’t disturb us thanks to good soundproofing. The speed limit is 30 and there are traffic cameras in the area. My only gripes were the slightly rough finish on the fixtures and fittings, and mattresses that were lower quality than I like, though I still slept okay.

I’ve been using this place for years, and the management bend over backwards to help. It’s clean, has an ensuite, and there’s staff available 24 hours. They’ve been affected by covid like many places, and I understand that some have turned to council payments to house people who have recently become homeless, or they’d be in trouble. The only downside for me is the lack of a minifridge in the room. Even bigger chains don’t always provide one, so I still give the place five stars.

We went to a funeral wake and had drinks in the bar. The lodge put on plenty of nice food, and the staff were friendly. We didn’t stay overnight.

The rooms were modern and really nice, and there was lots of parking on site. Staff were friendly and helpful too. There were two functions going on while I was there, but I couldn't hear them through the soundproofing. I'd definitely come back and recommend it to friends and family.
