The breakfast let things down a bit, so I gave four stars. The first morning, there were no bowls or drinking water, and the self-service items hadn't been topped up, leaving little to choose from. The cooked breakfast was a little cold, even though it was made to order. It was better on the second morning. The location works well for walking into town or getting an Uber to nearby areas, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well appointed, as expected.

The hotel was fine, clean and comfortable, and the food at Beefeater was good. Parking was easy to find and pay for when we left on Saturday and Sunday, but at £15 for 24 hours I think it's excessive and takes advantage of guests who are more or less compelled to use the ACPOA car park next door because of the central location. That's your call, of course.

Joseph made us feel valued and listened to us with warmth and respect. He was personable, approachable, and clearly takes pride in his work. When a problem came up, he kept us informed, stayed calm, and sorted it out properly, quickly and professionally. He showed genuine care instead of just offering a quick fix. His customer service turned a potentially frustrating stay around, and we left feeling very well looked after. He's a real credit to Premier Inn, and we'll remember his service long after our stay. Please pass on our thanks and recognition.

The beds were comfortable, with a heavy duvet, and it was very quiet, so we slept well for both nights. Breakfast was fresh, hot and tasty, and the three staff members we met were all pleasant. We had an afternoon meal at the beneath beefeater, which wasn't horrible, but I expected better after such a good breakfast. I'd stayed here years ago and the stay was much the same, but the high parking cost in the plaza put me off returning sooner. This time I have a blue badge and found local parking. Without it, the cost would likely put me off again. A good deal with the town parking would make the location and offer a 100%.

Breakfast left us very disappointed, even though we'd pre-booked it. They said there was no table and we could either wait 45 minutes or take a refund. We said we'd wait, then the waiter relayed a message from the manager, who stayed in the background instead of speaking to us directly: because of a party, they couldn't guarantee we'd get breakfast at all. The attitude seemed to be 'it is what it is', and we felt unwelcome despite having paid in advance. The poor management and lack of priority for hotel guests who'd pre-paid soured the whole stay. We should be compensated as well as refunded, since we booked on the basis of getting breakfast. We had a great meal with family in the restaurant the evening before, so breakfast management and priorities need sorting. We've stayed many times; otherwise, the hotel was fine as usual, apart from the system not showing our early check-in payment and great difficulty unplugging the sink basin.
