Grey Stone Studio Apartments

Stayed here twice and found it clean and good value both times. My one small complaint is checkout at 10:30am. I’m usually here to see friends, which means a late night, so noon checkout would suit me much better. It wouldn’t bother me if I were travelling for work.

The church view was lovely the next morning, and the place could be nice with proper cleaning and management. The owner or agent was helpful when I contacted her twice, suggested we change rooms, and said she’d contact TripAdvisor about a refund. She also said I could go somewhere to reset the heating. We left in a hurry, and after seeing the cupboard she called a communal kitchen, full of appliances and dirty laundry, I was glad we didn’t try that. We were still waiting to hear back 19 days later, despite using the chatbox. It’s beside a pub, but November was quiet. The room seemed spacious at first, though it smelled unclean even with both windows open on a freezing day. The bedding and towels were stained and musty, there was no bathroom soap, litter on the floor, and the bathroom was dirty. A big radiator and extra heater warmed it up, but a wheeled mirror got in the way when there was already a long wall mirror. The heating and water then failed the next morning. A microwave on its own doesn’t make a kitchenette.

The apartment was nice, with towels and toiletries in the bathroom and drinks, cutlery, cups and plates in the kitchen. There’s a pub in what I think is the same building, though it doesn’t serve food. We couldn’t find a proper pub or restaurant nearby on foot, just takeaways.

I stayed in room "G" in December 2022. The noise made it hard to relax: other guests and the main road were loud, and female guests kept waking me at 5am and 530am by slamming doors and shouting. The room came with towels, toiletries, hot drinks, cutlery, cups and plates. There’s a pub next door, but nearby food options are only takeaways. Halifax town centre is a 10-15 minute ride away, with a bus stop nearby. The shower tiles had mould and the room needed painting. It could be a lovely place if it were cleaned and managed properly.
