The old post office hotel

Good value and simple. The rooms are clean, the bed’s comfy, and there’s tea and coffee in the room. The toilets and showers are shared. Jackie, the Boss, is lovely.

We held a christening party here and they did a great job. The room was tidy and set up well for us, and the staff were great. Parking is across the road, though it won’t suit everyone. We didn’t stay overnight, as we were using the function room.

The attic rooms were basic but fine, though the low headroom meant I had to sit on the floor to make a brew. Parking on site is very limited and awkward, but there’s cheap Town parking opposite at only #9 a day. The location is perfect for the Piece Hall and town centre. All things considered, it was fine for one night to go to the Piece Hall.

Jackie was a great host, and I can’t speak highly enough of her. I stayed in a single room with a shared bathroom for a football away day. As a solo traveller needing a quick night’s sleep and a shower, it did the job. The bed was good, though the shared bathroom shower head was weak. The room wasn’t spotless, but it was clean enough for a travelling football fan lol. A towel, basic toiletries, coat hangers, tea and coffee, a kettle and a TV were provided, though I didn’t use the latter things. I gave it four stars, but for the price it was great value and I’d probably stay again. COYD ⚔️
